Veysonnaz happily awaits You.
-
- Welcome to Veysonnaz, the “look out post” of the Alps. The little village is situated at 1200
meters on a slope above Sion, the capital of the canton of Valais, with
exceptionally panoramic views of the Rhone valley and the Bernese Alps.
It is considered the cross roads of the Four Valleys resort region.
- Veysonnaz offers modern tourist
amenities while maintaining its old world village charms and ways of
life, like the “inalpe” (the taking of the cows up to the high
pasture) in June.
- Skiers and other winter sports
lovers can expect excellent snow conditions at Veysonnaz, which is connected
by plentiful access to all 400 km of the Four Valleys area ski runs,
including the Piste “de l'Ours", the
renowned World Cup run. Veysonnaz also has a cross country ski run offering
majestic Rhone valley and Bernese Alps views. Winter sports schools
are available for children and adults and there are plenty of winter
activities available for non-skiers as well. Après ski, enjoy a raclette
and glass of white wine at one of the traditional village restaurants
or bars.
- In summer, visitors can enjoy
300 km of footpaths through the beautiful protected natural surroundings
of Veysonnaz, from casual strolls to more challenging hikes in the mountains.
The “Bisse de Vex”, a man made irrigation channel dating from the
15th century, has been completely restored and offers delightful
walks with idyllic scenery. The pyramids of Euseigne in the nearby village
of Euseigne are unusual rock formations created by natural erosion that
are definitely worth a visit. And daily guided tours are available of
the Grande Dixence dam in the Val d'Hérémence - at 285 meters, the
highest dam in the world.
-
- Other summer features include
the Grand Raid Cristalp, considered to be the longest and most challenging
mountain bike race in the world. And a visit to Sion, the nearby capital
of Valais, provides cultural excursions, shopping and fine dining to
complete your Veysonnaz holiday.
- Veysonnaz is less than two
hours drive from Geneva airport, and only a 25 minute drive from Sion.
From the airport, you can rent a car (www.carhiresearch.co.uk/loc/Switzerland/Geneva-Airport.html) or for about £40, take a train from
the airport to Sion, where a bus service runs seven times daily from
the station to Veysonnaz. For a direct taxi link from Geneva to Veysonnaz,
