Verbier is wonderfull
- Verbier in
Winter
- In winter, Verbier hosts a
holiday population of around 40,000 skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts.
One of the largest lift-linked ski areas in the world, all 410 km of
4 Valleys slopes are accessible with a single ski pass. The largest
vertical descent peaks at 2500 meters (8230 feet!) in the shadow of
the Mont Fort glacier which peaks at 3300 meters. These majestic heights
ensure excellent snow conditions from early December until late April,
with snow machines completing the natural snow fall on the runs.
- Cross country skiers have half
a dozen 4 and 5 km (2.5- 3 mile) loops at their disposal as well as
an 8 km (5 mile) route through Val de Bagnes. This area is also well
known for its off-trail skiing and attracts countless photographers and
film crews who travel to the area to shoot footage of the gorgeous powdered
peaks and brilliant sunshine.
- Verbier in
Summer
- In summer, Verbier attracts
scores of hikers and mountain bikers who enjoy over 400 km of clearly
marked paths through the stunning mountains. Rock climbers enjoy many
levels of challenges, especially near the Pierre Avoi. There is also
canoeing through mountain river beds, wading through rock pools and
rappelling from steep mountainsides for the thrill-minded. And nearby
is the beautiful Golf Club Verbier, a world class 18 hole course.
- Dining and Entertainment
in Verbier
- Not only is Verbier one of the
most beautiful year-round resorts in Europe, it is also renowned for
its après ski relaxation, dining and nightlife.
- A great spot to start your après
ski with friends in the afternoon is 1963, situated directly below
the Mayents chairlift. This sunny place is (especially in the spring)
packed with people listening to local DJs and attracted by the smell
of the Barbecue… but beware the last run home rush! The
Farinet, in the village, where live bands perform daily, was voted
best après-ski bar worldwide in 2004 . And Pub Montfort,
located just above the Medran, has a sunny and popular terrace.
- A number of excellent restaurants
are located in the village, many offering regional dishes of the Valais,
such as cheese, tomato and meat fondues, raclette and charcuterie. Italian,
Mexican, Asian and French options are also available. For high end cuisine,
head to La Grange, Le Hameau or the King restaurant.
For mountain top dining, try La Marleinaz, Chez Dany or
La Marmot. A sled will deliver you home.
